The Basics of Camping
Camping can be a wonderful experience but it can also become very dangerous if the proper safety precautions aren’t used. It is advisable to have at least one person along that is experienced enough to handle potentially dangerous situations.
It is necessary when camping outdoors to know basic things like how to set up a tent and build a fire as well as minor emergency basics such as first aid and cpr.
It is also important to know how to protect yourself from whatever weather or wildlife you might encounter on your trip. Knowing these things will help to make your camping trip much more enjoyable for everyone involved.
Aside from knowing the basic things it is also important to have the necessary equipment such as tents, sleeping bags, cooking utensils and a first aid kit. Good mosquito repellant and allergy medication is always a good idea as well.
Following these guidelines will not guarantee that you won’t run into problems in the wilderness but they will help you in knowing what to do in potentially dangerous situations.
It is always best to camp with someone but if you must be alone be sure that you do it safely and always leave word with someone as to where you can be found.
